There's no way around it: grieving for a cat who has died is a painful experience.
Besides seeking support from loved ones, or from others who have experienced the loss of a beloved companion animal, often a physical object can be a comforting reminder of your cherished time together, and help to heal the hurt.
Because we're cat-lovers ourselves and understand the sadness and complexity of these feelings, we recently started looking for affordable memorials, urns, markers, and appropriate sympathy cards to carry in the Cat and Caboodle webstore.
But there are other websites and products we'd like you to know about, so we created this page to tell you about them. We don't carry these products at Cat and Caboodle because they were meant to be personalized, so we believe that buying them directly from the artist or manufacturer is the best way to purchase them. The good folks at The Chimes of Your Life will personalize two sizes of wind chime for you, and shipping is FREE.
Choose from memorial wind chimes (one style actually comes with a small vial for your cat's ashes or fur), or just regular old everyday wind chimes with a cat wind sail, engraved with whatever you wish to say. They come in 19" and 29" sizes, in silver or bronze color. |
| A Whisper In The Heart was started by a woman who was completely devastated by the death of her Samoyed. You can read her touching story, or just browse her extensive selection of cremation jewelry, which she offers in many different shapes (not just hearts) and sizes in sterling silver, 14K gold, 14k white gold, and gold vermeil. Her website also has a video showing her handling the pieces, so you can get a better sense of their true size and dimensions. |

In The Light Urns offers a cat candle holder urn and a glass pendant keepsake urn featuring a cat. They have more than 2 dozen styles of heart pendant keepsake urns as well. The keepsake jewelry allows you to keep your cat's ashes or fur close to you every day.
Almost all of In The Light's urns and keepsake jewelry can be inscribed. They also offer a unique selection of glass beads which will be made from your cat's ashes. |
| Artist George Carruth has designed a Floral Pet Memorial gravestone which he will engrave with your cat's name, up to 8 letters. It's made of cement (or a cement-like compound) which is safe for outdoor use. He also makes a 3 dimensional cat figurine which we think would make a sweetly whimsical grave marker. |

PetsToRest.com actually carries a line of pet caskets, which is something we'd never thought of. Besides carrying much of the same types of urns and memorial jewelry as In The Light Urns, Pets To Rest also has a good selection of less-expensive urns, and a nice-looking line of marble pet urns, 2 of which are cat figurines. |
| Angel Ashes sells only pet cremation urns. What makes them unique is that you can choose a cat breed figurine to go with your wood urn, or with an angel figurine urn. They have a variety of wood and plaque colors for you to choose from, and also offer photo urns. All will be personalized with your cat's name and dates of birth and death. |

| Through her Etsy store Etheldora, Emily Williams makes custom cat pillows from a photograph of your fur child. In about 3 weeks, you can be hugging him or her again. Since the photo is printed on fabric, Emily can even add some text if you wish, such as your cat's name and dates of birth and death, or some saying that brings you comfort. |

While this list is by no means exhaustive, we believe that whatever you need, you'll find it either in our store or from one of the vendors above. Our hope is that this page will save you a lot of emotional energy at a time when you probably have little of that to spare.
